7 Weird Things About Me

A while back, WAH(web)Mommy tagged me asking for 7 weird things about myself. I’m generally a bit reluctant to join in on memes, but since Shane and Harry have already done so, I might as well pitch in my weirdnesses.

  1. I am inexplicably compelled to watch anything with the words “Star Trek” in the title
Thus far, this includes 10 films and 23 seasons of the various television shows. I still have 5 seasons to go before I’ve seen every episode.
  2. I can’t stand the feel of certain synthetic fabrics
Touching some types of synthetic fabric makes me cringe. For some reason, when I touch them, especially if I accidentally rub the fabric against itself, I have an electric sensation which runs up my hand through my arm and into my spine. It isn’t pleasant.
  3. I’ve been reading business and self-improvement books since I was 14
This is mostly due to the fact that my parents were active in several entrepreneurial activities when I was younger. Since I’m a pretty active reader (even more so then!), I would often take down whatever book happened to catch my eye on the bookcase. This meant that I ended up reading a lot of second-rate self-improvement books, and a few very good ones.
  4. When I read fiction, it tends to be children’s literature
I’m not sure why, but I tend to appreciate children’s literature more than I do adult fiction. Maybe because the adult fiction I’ve read tends to be either (a) stupid, (b) self-important, or (c) locked into a fairly superficial world?
  5. I hate Facebook
I think that I am going to devote an entire post to this topic, but suffice it to say that I really dislike the quality of interaction that the site tends to promote.
  6. I’m a theology geek
You know that guy you passed in the library reading some book published in the 1950s with a title like The Ante-Nicene Syrian Liturgy? That was probably me.
  7. I still enjoy watching the Masters of the Universe movie
What can I say? I’m a child of the 80s.

  1. *points up* How to screw up typing in an HTML link by hand. Excellent example. Still gets you where you need to go, though.

  2. Don’t worry, James. I corrected the HTML so that the page still validates. And no, I’m not obsessive!
