Vitruvian Theme Preview

Those of you who are regular readers may remember that I've been working on a free WordPress theme for a while. Today, you finally get to see some of the work. I call it Vitruvian Theme.

Inspired by Da Vinci's Vitruvian Man, the idea of balance and proportion is built into the structure itself. The columns and typography are related by approximations of the golden ratio to give the theme a sense of visual harmony.

I plan to release Vitruvian Theme within the next week. Thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

I really like it.

mmm….nice. I like it too. I like the colour, the header and the two column layout

Have you thought about styling the form fields and buttons to match the layout? It’s a bit more fidgeting cross-browser wise but I think it’s worth it if you can integrate it nicely.

@ Katherine & Bob: Thanks!
@ Cody Robert: I did think about it, but decided against it since non-default forms tend to perform much more poorly in usability tests. However, if there is enough demand for it on release, I may look into it again.

Looks great!

@ Stephen: Glad you like it!
@ Everyone: Looks like release may be delayed a little while as I just got a fair bit of client work and still have a couple of bugs to work out, but I’ll get back to it ASAP. Thanks for being patient!

I like it, but I always have a hard time warming up to pages that aren’t dark text on very-light background.  I’m not sure how you could increase the text-to-background contrast without ruining the vibe, though.
